ADC Defectors Join APC as Yilwatda Warns Against Fuel Subsidy Return
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has received former candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who withdrew from various State House of Assembly contests across the North and defected to the ruling party.
The defectors were formally received on Monday by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who used the occasion to caution against any attempt to reintroduce fuel subsidy.
According to Yilwatda, a return to fuel subsidy could undermine ongoing development projects in the region, including road construction, gas and fertiliser initiatives.
The delegation was led by Princess Aslam Aliyu, popularly known as Gimbiyar Kauran Namoda. Mohammed Hassan, an ADC candidate from Zamfara State, delivered the delegation’s remarks.
Hassan said the decision to join the APC was driven by what he described as a “bigger purpose,” signalling the defectors’ intention to contribute to the party’s political and developmental agenda.
